Following on from our 2014 Consultation, Scaling Up Community-led Housing; BSHF committed to proactively support the efforts being made to achieve growth in community-led approaches across the UK. This commitment led to our central involvement in delivering a programme of promotional and collaborative activity between 2015 and 2017. Our activities are concentrated in England, but we hope there will be many opportunities to share with and learn from activities happening in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as across the wider international context.

We have focused on four main areas:

1.  Working Collaboratively

In February 2016, we brought together a group of committed and knowledgeable people with a passion for community-led housing. Together we agreed steps we’re willing to make together so we can build on ways which currently help people discover and deliver housing solutions which suit them.

If you’d like to collaborate and have skills to offer, please complete our Community-led Housing Self-Assessment Survey

2. Shouting about community-led housing!

Collective support for promotional activity

If you have interesting Community-led housing work going on, send us a link to your own communications so we can help share your news, or you can always let us know on through Facebook or Twitter.

We are also supporting the National CLT Network to deliver the New Sources of Supply workstream of the National Housing and Planning All Party Parliamentary Group: Housing Taskforce. The call for evidence has now closed. Updates will be posted on the National CLT Network and Housing Taskforce websites.

The BSHF submission to the New Sources of Supply call for evidence is available to download from Publications.

3. Knowledge Exchange

Check out the video and blog from the event on community-led housing in urban areas, brought to you by London Community Neighbourhood Cooperative and The Glass-House Community-Led Design.

You can find out more about Locality’s See For Yourself Open Days – showcasing great examples of communities doing great things across the UK.

4. Developing Resources

ALL OF THE RESOURCES DEVELOPED THROUGH THIS PROGRAMME ARE FREE TO DOWNLOAD, USE, SHARE AND POST ON YOUR OWN WEBSITES

Our database provides a great overview of the variety of community-led activities happening across the UK – and let us know if we’ve missed anything! If you want data including planned projects, please contact Catherine[at]communitylandtrusts.org.uk
