Introduction

As an independent housing research organisation, BSHF carries out a range of research and knowledge transfer activities.

Some of the research work is carried out in-house or in collaboration with other organisations and some is externally commissioned or sponsored. All research carried out has practical relevance and addresses a range of current housing issues worldwide.

The exchange of housing for help in the home

Homesharing is a simple idea. A householder offers accommodation to a homesharer in exchange for an agreed level of support. The support needed may be help with the household tasks or it may be financial support, or a combination of both.
